How it works
Check Shopify product CSV headers before import
Shopify's product CSV template uses exact column names like 'Variant Price' and 'Image Src'. If you exported from another platform, renamed a column in Excel, or used a supplier template, the headers will not match and Shopify will either reject the file or silently ignore those columns. This checker compares your headers against the Shopify template, flags mismatches, and renames safe ones automatically.

Does column order matter in a Shopify product CSV?
No. Shopify matches columns by name, not position. You can reorder columns freely, but the names must match exactly — including capitalisation and spacing.
What happens to columns Shopify does not recognise?
Shopify silently ignores unknown columns. They do not cause an error but the data is not imported. This checker flags column names that look like Shopify fields but are slightly off, such as 'Price' instead of 'Variant Price'.
Can it rename incorrect headers automatically?
Yes. When a header mismatch is unambiguous, such as 'SKU' instead of 'Variant SKU', the checker renames it in the clean CSV output.
Which columns are required versus optional?
Handle and Title are required for every product's first row. Variant Price, Variant SKU, and Vendor are strongly recommended. Option and inventory columns are only needed when you use those features.
